There’s An Alligator in Audubon Park!

Guess what? I’ll be doing the first book signing for “There’s An Alligator in Audubon Park!” at the one and only Community Book Center! I’m working with Jerald White of the Blended Books Club, and we’ll be there on Saturday, December 10 from 2:00-3:30PM. There will be cake and light refreshments. It’s going to be so much fun! I can’t wait to see how the kids react to the story.

First time author/illustrator Gina Minor Allen lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, where alligators are iconic – both feared and enjoyed as a tasty treat. “There’s an Alligator in Audubon Park!” is a fun-to-read tale for children ages 3-8 that explores the many and conflicting reactions to confronting an alligator in our environment. I haven’t posted to this blog in so long, there’s a lot that I’ve missed. The Kickstarter campaign was successful with contributors funding “There’s An Alligator in Audubon Park!” at 123% of the fundraising goal! $4,325 was pledged through 74 backers as well as a number of offline contributors. Seriously, y’all – that was a great feeling to be supported by family, friends, and co-workers.
Immediately after, I set to work putting the final touches on the book – finishing a couple of illustrations, drawing characters for two people who elected to be drawn into the second line scene, and getting ISBN and Library of Congress numbers for the book.
Now I’m in the midst of shipping out rewards – primarily advance copies of the book – to all of my funders. Day by day, I get a little more done. I am loving it : )
